At the end of May I was asked to photograph the piece ‘Welkom in de familie’ (Welcome to the family) for Toneelgezelschap De Papegaai from Laren.
Welcome to the family is originally a French comedy, written by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière. For months, five actors have been rehearsing under the direction of director Robbert van den Bergh to create a great performance at the Singer Theater in Laren.
The story of “Welkom in de familie”
“The successful businessman and cheerful epicurean Marcel (Michiel Balemans) is about to become a father for the first time. He was invited for dinner with his sister Elisabeth (Carola la Grouw) and brother-in-law Pierre (Simon de Ruijter). Their joint childhood friend Victor (Jacques-Hein Vermolen) is also joining forces. In anticipation of the arrival of his young career woman Anna (Lisette de Kock van Leeuwen), Marcel is inundated with questions about his future fatherhood. When Marcel is asked whether he already has a name for the unborn child, his answer causes heated discussions and the evening takes a totally unexpected turn. Hilarity and sarcasm, it all comes together in this comedy with a black edge.”- De Papegaai –
